ADAPTOGENS

Recently a new word has begun to enter the vocabulary of botanists, herbal researchers, pharmacologists, and sports medicine practitioners. That word is “ADAPTOGEN”! Adaptogens are natural substances found in a few rare herbs. The word 'adaptogen' was coined as far back as 1947, by Russian scientists, and is used to describe the unique effect certain herbs have in increasing the human body's natural resistance to physical and emotional stress, fatigue, depression and illness. Adaptogens help balance the body when it is under the influence of stress, and they do it in a restorative rather than curative manner. Adaptogens heighten the general resistance of the human body to infections, chemical poisons and stress, as well as safely increasing muscle strength and mental capacity." Adaptogens have three distinguishing qualities:
1. They catalyze a non-specific response in the body to increase the body's resistance to stress on a cellular level.
2. Their effect is to balance and normalize the body's systems leading to a greater overall health.
3. They are completely non-toxic and have no harmful effects no matter how long they are used.
Diets rich in adaptogenic nutrients have been scientifically proven to have extraordinary effects on the human body, physically, mentally and emotionally, and to provide benefits you cannot get from anything else in the modern western diet.

RADIKAL BEBAS dan ANTIOXIDENTS - reaction altering the structure of millions of molecules in a matter of nanoseconds (a nanosecond is a billionth of a second) by tearing holes through cellular membranes creating havoc with the nucleic acids, proteins, and enzymes inside. Collectively, these attacks are known as oxidative stress, and they are capable of causing cells to lose their structure, their function, damaging the DNA and enzyme systems, and eventually destroying them. This is what disease and the aging process is all about.
Can you feel the effect of free radical damage? Not immediately. But unless you take the necessary steps to help counteract these unrelenting attacks from free radicals, you run the risk of allowing cumulative damage to your tissues, joints, organ systems, and blood vessels. And you can feel these effects. Overall, free radicals have been implicated in the development of at least 50 diseases! A partial list includes arthritis and other inflammatory diseases, kidney disease, cataracts, inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, lung dysfunction; pancreatitis; drug reactions, skin lesions, and aging, to mention a few.
Heart disease and cancer are two of the most widespread diseases associated with free radical damage. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America today, killing an estimated one in every three Americans. Several factors, such as high blood cholesterol levels, hypertension, cigarette smoking, and diabetes, are chief culprits in the promotion of heart disease.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in this country. It’s estimated that antioxidants deficient diets may account for as much as 35% of all human cancers. The amount of antioxidants-rich fruits and vegetables included in one's diet appears to have a significant impact on cancer risk.
There is help!
Anti-oxidants (or free radical scavengers) are the body’ s defense to these deadly killers. These specialized substances work primarily by sacrificing themselves by giving one of their own electrons to the free radical, thereby stabilizing its structure.
It’s this antioxidant  defense system that must protect us from the havoc of free radical damage. More and more scientific studies are linking low intakes of dietary antioxidants  to an increased risk of heart disease. And many studies have also reported that a reduction in cancer risk is associated with a diet high in antioxidant  vitamins. Good sources of antioxidant  are vitamin E, vitamin C, beta-Carotene and Selenium. Left unchecked the inevitable results of this oxidative stress is chronic disease and premature aging.
Many antioxidants can be obtained from food sources such as fresh fruits and vegetables, however when you consider our depleted soils and the number of pesticides we use, it’s little wonder that our diets now need to be augmented with antioxidant supplements.

GYNOSTEMMA - History: It is said that the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, Qin Shihuang, (221 – 206 BC), who conquered all the independent Chinese states to create the first Chinese empire, suffered from long hours of overwork. Therefore he ordered his court physicians to find the source of long life. At first the doctors assembled many different herbs useful for invigorating the heart, and after careful comparison they finally settled on only one: Gynostemma. Since that time Gynostemma has come to be known as the “miracle herb” because of its ability to assist the heart and promote longevity. Tiens (Tianshi) now makes this Imperial formula available to you.

SAPONINS - Are phytochemicals naturally present in plant foods. Many of these compounds serve as "natural antibiotics" for the plant themselves, but now scientists are using them in the fight against viruses, and infections. They’ re also known to lower blood cholesterol thereby reducing heart disease. 1 out of every 4 Americans need to lower their Cholesterol! Saponins have the ability to lower Cholesterol, Triglycerides and Raise HDL levels. The lack of saponins also seems to closely parallel the rise in heart disease. In  today’ s fast food society, foods rich in saponins make little contribution to our normal diets, which makes it necessary to take a good supplement. One of the most exciting prospects is found in how saponins inhibit or even kill cancer cells, without killing normal cells around them in the process, which is the norm with present cancer-fighting drugs. Since cancer cells have more cholesterol-type compounds in their membranes than normal cells, a diet rich in saponins is known to bind cholesterol and thus interfere with cell growth and division. Saponins are safe and non-toxic while drugs are known to have adverse side effects, many of which can be serious. How Do Saponins Work?
Since saponins cannot penetrate the intestinal wall, consequently when they bind with cholesterol the cholesterol is now unable to absorb back into the body, and is then excreted out of the body. This forces the liver to produce more bile acid. To produce more bile acid, the liver must remove cholesterol from the bloodstream, leaving less to buildup in the arteries. While all herbs contain saponins, those particularly rich in saponins are Gynostemma and ginseng. Gynostemma contains 84 different kinds of saponins.

TRACE ELEMENTS/TRACE MINERALS - adalah Chromium, manganese, cobalt, tembaga, fluorine, seng, iodine, molybdenum, selenium.
